Parker's Big Day And Caleb's Swim Lessons

Well, it has been a crazy week or so since my last blog. As I stated before Caleb began swim lessons. He has really done an amazing job I am going to include a picture from the first lesson, it broke my heart but it was quite hilarious. So we get there, and Caleb is all excited about what he is about to learn, keep in mind, a three year old really has no clue, all he knows is I have been talking about it for weeks and telling him how much fun it is going to be. He is one of four in the lesson and the other three all took lessons last year and did not forget for a minute what they were in for. So the teacher gets there and has them all sit on the top step, well the other three are all screaming bloody murder and trying to attach themselves to their mother's leg. All the while Caleb does as he is told and takes a seat (wondering what in the heck is wrong with the others). Well, that lastest all of about two minutes then a light bulb must have gone off for Caleb and he realized the torture he was about to go through. So at that point we have four little three year olds screaming at the top of their lungs and trying to figure out how they are going to escape. I have to say . . . I was so impressed with the teacher, she never once lost her temper, never raised her voice, it was amazing. So the lesson lasted for 30 min and can I just say . . . that was the longest 30 min. of my life. Caleb cried the whole time, when we got home he had raw spots on both rists from holding onto the pool for so long and crying so hard, it was sad but he walked away from that lesson with a new ability in the water. We have now had three total lessons and he can swim to the bottom (by the stairs) and get an egg which I was blown away by! He still cries some at the lessons but he is doing great. The funny thing is, he will do all these impressive things for his teacher and then when we take him to the pool he won't move from the steps. I guess it will take some time. We are starting Parker in private lessons in a couple of weeks. He has no fear at the pool so we thought that was the best things for him.
On to Parker, well today he followed after his big brother and had to have tubes put in his ears and his adnoids removed. He did an amazing job and was so brave. Dr. Shirley did the surgery and said the amount of stuff in his ears was unbelievable. He said that he could not even use the normal thing to suck the stuff out it was so bad, he said it was amazing that he heard anything. It will be so interesting to see how his speech changes in the next few weeks. He amazed me when he woke up from being put under because he was so calm and just wanted to cuddle. I was so proud of him. He has had a pretty good day, he got a little too excited to eat after we got back from the hospital around 12. He had not eaten since last night so he had applesauce and vanilla pudding because they said to give easy things to eat, well 20 minutes later we got all of it back. It was awful, I felt so bad for the little guy! Other than that he has done very well today, he has had his cranky moments but I can't blame him, we had him up at 5 this morning and then look at what he went through!
Well, everything else is going great around here!! Thanks to all of you who were praying for Parker today, it really means a lot! We love you all!!

Poor Caleb at the pool! I think I hated my first few swimming lessons too, but eventually I loved being in the water! Glad Parker is doing well, poor thing!
